We didn’t arrive to this decision lightly. Due to insufficient customer demand and the large investment needed to run the software, it became apparent that we needed to discontinue Interac Online at the end of this calendar year. Interac Online has not been widely adopted, even though Interac debit is a major retail payment type in Canada.
Therefore, this is what we recommend you do:
Add a Visa or Mastercard credit/debit card to your account. We've noticed that the major banks, particularly Scotiabank, are now issuing bank cards with Visa Debit enabled which allows them to work online just like a normal credit card and are supported by us. Once you have done so, please contact us and we will switch your account from Interac Online to credit/debit card.
